News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy", "Ted") is doing a yet untitled scifi "dramedy" show (live action, not animation) for FOX. He'll star himself as the captain of the starship Orville, Adrianne Palicki ("Agents of SHIELD") will play his first officer, who's also his ex-wife. The pilot will be directed by Jon Favreau.

The plan is for a 13-episode season to begin production in January to be aired during the 2017/18 TV season.

 

You lost me at Seth MacFarlane. Pity because I like Jon Farveau and Adrianne Palicki.

 

Maybe you should have said "Former Enterprise Actor" instead of using his name?

 

They should just leave the title as "Space Dramedy".

 

Family Guy lost me a while ago, but I do like most of McFarlane's other stuff, so I'll keeping an eye on this. I was actually kinding of hoping McFalane would be involved with Star Trek: Destiny since he's a big Trekkie, but this could make up for that. After the Iron Mans, Revolution and Jungle Book I'm a big Favreau fan too, so his involvement also helps.

 

I like Seth McFarlane except when he's in front of the camera.

 

So basically an obvious Star Trek parody with raunchy humour and a lot of random "you remember when...?" flashbacks throughout each episode?

Meh, while I have not been enthusiastic about MacFarlane's work for years now, I'm not completely turned off this idea yet. But if it really does turn out to be just a live action Family Guy in space, I don't see it lasting.

We don't know yet if there will be any humping in this show.

 

It's written by Seth MacFarlane. Of course there will be.

 

Seth MacFarlane has his moments. I'll probably at least check out the first episode.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it'll be a US version of Hyperdrive.

 

I'll probably check out the first episode.

 

Not exactly thrilled about Seth McFarland these days but I will probably check it out.

 

McFarland's one of the more talented people in Hollywood who actually give a crap about spiffy stuff, so this should be interesting.

 

I will give it a try- I like the weird blend of scifi, humor, parody and sex- 'Tripping the Rift' was fun.
